The Event Director II Will Be Responsible For Managing The Lineup Of Live In-House (REMI) And Remote Productions, Including Some Of ESPN's Most Complex And High-Profile Sporting Events. During Live Event Productions, The Event Director II Is Responsible For Performing Technical Television Production, Tracking Events, And Working With The Producer To Document The Sporting Event. Additionally, Work With Coordinating Producers And Producers To Provide Support And Guidance On Content And Scope Philosophy. The Event Director II Will Manage The Long-Term Planning And Coordination Of Specific Projects, Working With Production, Creative Services, And Operations To Provide An Administrative Plan For The Execution And Integration Of Production Elements.
The Event Director II Must Be A Team Builder With Strong Production And Technical Skills And Demonstrate Leadership Skills In All Interactions And Decisions. The Event Director II Is Responsible For Managing The Live Event Production Technical Team and providing Direction And Feedback. Must Also Coach, Develop, And Mentor Directory Staff And Provide Consistent And Comprehensive Feedback. The Position Is Based In Bristol And May Involve The Need To Direct Productions Related To The Studio According To The Schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Plans, Directs And Manages On-Air Production Of Remote-Live Sporting Events And REMI, Properly Documents Assigned Events.
- Oversee Live Event Production Technical Staff; Provide Direction, Feedback And Development. Works With Remote Operations To Determine Technical Equipment And Personnel Requirements For Telecast.
- Works With Producers And Coordinating Producers To Define Creative Vision And Technical Direction As It Relates To Presentation, Driving Innovation, And New Workflows That Involve Technology. Organize And Lead Meetings As Needed To Develop Production And Operational Strategies.
- Extensive Event Production Experience, From AP, AD, Producer, And Director Responsibilities, As Well As A Deep Understanding Of Technical Roles. It Decides In Real Time Which Images And Sounds Are Broadcast; Interprets Data And Information And Decides On Camera Angles, Features, And Sequences.
- Worked With Production And Operations Team To Determine Camera Placement For Each Location; planned and executed required Shots, Live-To-Tape Construction, And Shot Sequences. Works With Technical Technicians To Integrate All Elements Of Telecast Including Graphics, Advanced Technology Elements, Switch Effects, Composite Music, Etc.
- Supervise Technical Crews And Remote Staff Assigned To Events; Conducts Production And Technical Meetings To Define Crew Responsibilities And Outline Expectations For Remote-Live Events. Works With The Crewing Department To Best Train Technical Production Crews For Live Events; Provides Post-Event Feedback To The Remote Operations Team And Crewing Department As Needed.
- Prepare For Each Match Accordingly By Researching Teams, Players, Stories, Trends And More. Briefs On-Air Talent Before Telecast And Guides Them During Telecast As Needed.
- Makes Editorial Adjustments To Coverage Patterns On The Spot As Unexpected Situations And Opportunities Arise. Troubleshoot Real-Time Operational Issues That Occur During Assigned Sporting Events.
- Has The Knowledge And Ability To Manage Studio-Related Production, Both In-House And Remotely. Provides Continuous Feedback To Directors And Associate Directors And Documents Management In Writing. Written Feedback Should Be Thoughtful And Comprehensive With Clear And Detailed Examples. Attend Regular Clip Reviews With Managers And Event Management Team To Further Develop Management Skills.
- Practices And Adheres To Department Director Performance Standards That Apply To Leadership, Communication, Operations, Personal Development, And Production And Consistently Performs All Duties And Functions Required Of The Role.
