National Geographic Is Seeking A Savvy Database Analyst To Join Its Business Intelligence Team, Helping The Team Understand Potential Within Its Growing Subscription Business.

Working Independently, The Analyst Will Create And Maintain Automated Dashboards And Other Services That Facilitate The Discovery Of Subscriber Journeys, Content Consumption And Customer Behavior.

The Successful Candidate Will Combine Strong Data Analysis Skills With An Understanding Of Digital Marketing And Traffic Drivers, Enabling The Ability To Carefully Identify Research Opportunities Around Customer Generation, Marketing And Retention. Potential Areas Of Research May Include Newspapers, Social Media, Mobile Apps, And Digital Reporting.

The Successful Person Will Be Eager To Learn And Strive To Find The "Why" Behind Performance Metrics, Understanding What Drives Engagement In Our Potential Audience. They Will Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills That Will Inspire And Build Trust To Enhance Working Relationships Within The Broader National Geographic Content Team.

Functions:

  • Search For Appropriate Tables And Complex Data Structures To Create And Maintain Automated Dashboards To Provide KPI/Metric Reporting.
  • Member States Request For Ad Hoc Data
  • Carefully Identify Opportunities To Use Customer Data To Answer Timely Business Questions And Help Make Decisions.
  • Try To Understand The Business Objective Behind The Request And Advise.
  • Assist With A/B Testing And Measurement Of Results.

Key Qualifications:

  • 3+ Years Of Experience As A Data Analyst Or Similar Role
  • Central Experience Developing Data Visualizations And Dashboards Using Tableau, Domo, Or Similar Tools
  • Experience Using Spark, SQL, Or Python To Manage Complex Datasets
  • Advanced Knowledge Of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability To Analyze Data Patterns And Transform Them Into Insights
  • Experience Analyzing And Interpreting Data From Websites Or Digital Marketing Channels Such As Email, Display, Affiliate, Search, Social And Mobile.
  • Ability To Interpret, Communicate, And Visualize Metrics In A Format That Can Be Understood At All Levels Of Understanding
  • Highly Organized And Able To Handle Multiple Requests In A Fast Environment
  • Ability To Work Effectively In A Cross-Functional Team
  • Strong Communication And Data Reporting Capabilities

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Adobe Analytics Experience Is A Plus
  • Enthusiasm And/or Experience In Newspaper Website / Editorial Content
